Enugu State Agricultural Development Programme (ENADEP) and the farmers’ associations in the state have strategised ways to boost agricultural production in the state.
Programme Manager of ENADEP, Dr Ogbonna Onyeisi, disclosed this in an interactive session with the farmers at the agency’s headquarter, Friday in Enugu.
Onyeisi said it was important for ENEDEP to have cordial relationship with farmers in the state.
According to him, “cordial relations will help the farmers to speak with one voice in their advocacy for impoving the welfare of their members and getting the necessary inputs to boost their income.”
He said during the interactive session, farmers agreed to formulate action plans after the meeting.
“Some of the action plans are to promote the training of farmers on how to produce organic fertilizer, to create avenues for interaction between farmers association and candidates for 2023 elections and to collaborate with Local Government Chairmen in the state,” he said.
The CEO of South Field international, Mr Govianni Madubuaku, said the use of organic fertiliser is the good modern
agricultural practice.
Madubuaku said his passion and priority is to help farmers learn about the local production of organic fertiliser.
